We had a very fun Halloween weekend. Friday night we hosted a pumpkin carving party with our neighbors. It ended up being the parents doing most of the carving while the kids played, but no one seemed to mind. Todd and I decided to each carve a pumpkin with a picture of the kid's costume, so Todd carved the mask for Judson's Star Wars Clone Trooper costume and I carved Snow White for Ryann. They both turned our really well, and Todd was excited to get to put his Dremel to good use. The carving party will hopefully be a yearly event. It was just a lot of fun!
With Halloween being on a Saturday this year the kids had to wait ALL DAY with no school to keep them distracted so it was a long day of waiting. It rained really hard right at the time we were going to go out trick or treating, but by the time we got the kids all dressed it had stopped. We did get rained on off and on while we were out going door to door, but it was just a little sprinkle and the kids weren't going to let that stop them from getting their candy!
Judson and Ryann switched roles this year. For the past couple of years Judson has been the nervous one, letting Ryann get the majority of the candy and heading home after spying the first big kid in a mask, but this year Ryann was more timid and Judson decided he was going to be brave. I was very proud of him. He even went up to the spooky house who closes off their porch and plays scary music and has a big electric skeleton moving and making noise.
At the end of the night we came home with a massive amount of candy. They will be enjoying this for MONTHS to come, and this is the one time of the year where Judson peanut allergy isn't so bad for mommy and daddy. The kids get their bowl of candy and we get all the Snickers and Reese's we can eat. Yummy!
