Trick or Treat!

Nana and Papa Sloan came to Charlotte on Halloween to surprise the kids and that they did. Judson was the one who opened the door, expecting to give some early trick-or-treaters some candy and instead found Nana and Papa smiling back at him. He was completely caught off guard. In fact he was shocked. It took him a while to recover from it. He went and sat on the couch with his head down and then snuggled with me for a bit before he let himself be excited about the whole situation. Not exactly the reaction I was expecting. I guess Judson's not going to be the type to like surprises.
After the shock wore off and Nana brought out the Halloween goodie bags all was well with the world again. They each got a video, jack-o-lantern flashlight and some stickers. Very exciting!
After playing for a bit it was time to put on their costumes. Judson decided to be a Ninja Turtle and Ryann went with her pink fairy princess outfit Auntie Shelly got her for Christmas last year. They both looked very cute. After taking a bunch of pictures and forcing them to eat a quick dinner it was off to trick-or-treat. All was going well. Judson even leaned over to Ryann and exclaimed "I am LOVING Halloween"! So cute! They bravely went from door-to-door getting their treats. We finally came to a house with a man hidden under a sheet, holding the bowl of candy. Ryann hesitantly walked up and got her candy and he never moved, but some teens came up after Ryann and the man jumped and they ran screaming. That was the end of the fun for Judson. From that point on Ryann had to go up to the door alone, ring the bell and wait for the them to come to the door (notice the last picture above). As soon as Judson could see they were nice he would then walk up and get his candy. Once it got dark Judson decided he had had enough of Halloween and insisted I take him home. Ryann kept going and could have gone all night if we would have let her. Halloween is her holiday!
We now how a huge bowl of candy for the kids to consume over the next several months and a smaller bowl of peanut candy for mommy and daddy. It may be the only perk to having a kids with allergies.
