This Christmas we changed things up from what we've done in the past. We decided to have our first Christmas morning with just the four of us at our house. Todd and I had gone out and done the "Santa" shopping before hand, which is usually done by Nana and Papa Sloan. We had a lot of fun finding the things they had asked for and then picking special little things we thought they would like.
On Christmas Eve night the kids sprinkled their reindeer food on the front yard to make sure Rudolf wouldn't forget us. Then the kids made up Santa's cookie plate and they decided this year Santa would prefer a cold Diet Coke over milk. I would have to agree! Before bed the kids opened up a special gift sent from Nana and Papa. They sent a book, "Twas the Night Before Christmas, that they had recorded themselves reading. It took the kids a few seconds before they realized who the voices belonged to. When they finally figured it out their little eyes just lit up. It was so neat!
We had the kids sleep in our room that night so that would wake us up before seeing the tree and presents. We have to get these things on video!! Anyway, Todd and I got all the little Santa stuff arranged and then watched "The Nativity Story" before heading to bed ourselves.
Christmas morning the kids were gracious enough to sleep until 8:00. They were so excited to see that Santa had come. They rode their new scooters around the kitchen and we all opened the gifts we had bought for each other. It was a special family morning together. I loved every minute of it!
