We celebrated the Risch family Christmas for a whole week this year! Michael and Brandon both got into Charlotte on Christmas Eve. They hung out with mom and dad until Lisa's and ours had said our good-bye's to our in-laws who we were both able to host Christmas for this year. Lisa's got there on Sunday the 28th. We were going to wait and do our "Christmas" on Monday evening, but the kids were just too excited with all the gifts under the tree that we decided not to torture them and went ahead and opened gifts that evening. Some of the major gifts of the evening were the kids Leapsters and their ride-on truck they got from Uncle Michael and Uncle Brandon. Dad got his GPS, Michael, Brandon and Todd all got much needed clothing and Joseph was thrilled to open his box of "Shamwows"...yes, the one's from the infomercial. :) Mom got a new watch and a jewelry armoire to hold her addiction in a more organized way. (That was more of a gift to this OCD daughter.) Lisa and I both got kitchen appliances, Lisa a food processor and me a crock-pot. I would day it was a very successful evening.
Monday was spent watching football and shopping. I guess you could use that description for every day we were together. Tuesday Joseph had to head back to Virginia to take his youth to Winterfest. Lisa and the boys stayed. The kids played so well together this trip. It was so fun to watch them. The weather cooperated most days as well so they spent a lot of time outside riding in their new truck, climbing trees and playing in the sandbox.
New Year's day everyone came to our house to celebrate Ryann's 4th birthday. I'll post more about that later. It was a fun day! Joseph got back into town that afternoon, so he got to participate in the activities as well.
Saturday was the day of departures. Brandon headed to his new home in Florida that morning, Lisa's clan headed back to Virginia around lunch time and Michael flew out that evening for his 6 hour flight back to Seattle. I was ready to get back into some sort of routine after almost two weeks of running around, but as always I'm sad to pack up and say good-bye Christmas. It's my favorite time of the year!
